Is Michelle over-Rheeching?

Posted by Van Schoales Dec 1st, 2008.

Michelle Rhee is on a tear…check out Time’s cover article .  I’m a huge fan but I’m not sure it helps to have her holding a broom on the cover of Time and belittling “touchy-feely educators.”  I hate to say it but it reminds me a bit of Bush talking about Iran.  She is clearly right, though I’m not sure if it helps her cause to be so dismissive of ineffective educators and their supporters.

By the way, Marion Barry of all people is right.  He recently lectured Rhee that politics matter in education even with mayoral control.  President Johnson understood the power of body language, a change in accent and smile in moving the civil rights agenda.  He had to move congress and some racist governors.

I sometimes worry about her tactics.  Time will tell.
