Argue the merits (or lack thereof) of various ballot issues and amendments based on facts, please. Using absurd scare tactics just makes you look foolish. That’s all the comment this miisive from the JeffCo Education Association needs:

PERA under attack!!
If you don’t want to wake up on November 5 with your PERA under siege, you must commit to protect your voice and your retirement by joining us in our volunteer canvass on Saturday, October 11.
The same people who have been behind previous attacks on public education, attacks on education employee rights, and attacks on PERA are behind #47, #49, and #54.
They want to use #54 to silence you because it will prohibit you (and your family members) from lobbying the legislature.
Then they can take away your PERA benefits.
They want to use #54 to silence you because it will prohibit you (and your family members) from contributing to or working for candidates who support public education and public educators.
Then they can take away your PERA benefits.
November 5 will be too late – you need to act now.
Confirm that you can help us on Saturday, October 11, at Lakewood H.S. (8th and Kipling) from 8 am until noon and make a significant difference in protecting your voice, your PERA, and your rights by replying "Yes, I’ll be there" to kdallman@nea.org .

I was glad to see the Rocky Mountain News pick up on this story, not only highlighting the silly scare tactics but also that the union brazenly used taxpayer-funded school district to do its electioneering.
